The Wood

The wood is gathered from many sources. Some laying along the road, others from businesses wanting to discard it after merchandise is delivered. It is bulky and heavy, which is why businesses are anxious to dispose of it.

Unfortunately, most pallets are not recycled. The majority of pallets are heat treated rather than chemically treated to make them environmentally safe. Using reclaimed pallet wood is an eco friendly way to keep the planet green.

The wood is sanded, primed and sealed with an opaque stain and whitewashed. Several coats of polyurethane are used to preserve the wood. If used outdoors and subject to direct moisture and hot sun, it is recommended to spray with a coat of polyurethane annually.
